When Money Fails: Post WWII Hungarian Hyperinflation

As the Allies celebrated the end of the Second World War, some countries, such as Hungary, continued to suffer. Hungary was not only conquered by the Soviet Red Army, but they were thrust into economic turmoil and hyperinflation. The Hungarian Hyperinflation from 1945-1947 generated the highest denominations in history at that time, and the efforts to curb it were fought with creative administrative tactics. In the 2nd segment of the When Money Fails series, we will learn the economic and numismatic history that plagued Hungary.

Alexander Blough started collecting in 1998, has been an adult member of the ANA since 2013, and pursued his Master's in European History with a focus on Numismatics where he wrote his Master's Thesis on The Socioeconomic Impacts and Importance of Inflation and Hyperinflation in Europe During The Early 20th Century.

Inside the Revamped Numismatic Diploma Program

The Numismatic Diploma Program, or NDP, has been a staple of the ANA's education offerings for years. Join Christian Strayhorn, the ANA's Education Director, for a tour of the new and improved Numismatic Diploma Program. In this NumismaTalks, Christian will share the process behind the redesigned courses and the layout of the specific courses. She will also provide a walk-through and answer questions for those interested in participating.

Numismatics Noir: Where Culture and Currency Collide

Numismatics Noir is a groundbreaking initiative at the intersection of culture and currency. While coin collecting is often seen as a niche hobby, Numismatics Noir transforms it into a powerful vehicle for storytelling, education, and community building. This presentation will showcase how Numismatics Noir sparks curiosity, preserves global histories, and connects people through a shared appreciation of numismatics and culture. Attendees will discover actionable strategies for authentic engagement and learn how this initiative is expanding the reach of coin collecting to new audiences—curious learners, and youth. This session is sure to inspire; attendees will leave with fresh perspectives and practical ways to integrate storytelling into their work, helping grow a more connected and vibrant community of coin collectors.

For Jen Ingram, coin collecting is more than a hobby—it’s a bridge to history and a tool for building the future. Inspired by childhood memories of collecting coins with her mother, Jen has traveled the world engaging coin collectors and growing her collection. As an award-winning business leader and founder of two companies, she has connected and inspired communities globally across philanthropy, healthcare, and real estate. In 2022, she launched Numismatics Noir, engaging the next generation through coins while preserving Black history. By 2025, she joined the less than 1% of people who have traveled all seven continents, enriching her perspective as a global citizen. Through her work, Jen connects people and stories, creating a lasting legacy.
A native of Metro Detroit, she earned a graduate degree from Central Michigan University after completing undergraduate coursework at Eastern Michigan University. She has also received countless awards from organizations across the country.
